WO2021001581 - VERTEBRAL Prosthesis This invention is an adaptation to the biological arquitecture of the body, with the purpose of create a more dinamic substitution of the vertebrae and providing instant protection of the spinal cord as well as better biomechanics for the patient.A Blue Chemical Portfolio from the Coral Microbiome
Bringing the next way of blue chemistry to empower our customers to create responsibly. We craft sustainable chemicals from coral bacteria through our AI guided process to develop a diverse eco-friendly chemical portfolio. Our initial offering, an eco-safe preservative ingredient, is part of an evolving lineup of environmentally responsible chemicals.Urban water pollution extent and impact on the Village Creek in Birmingham, AL – Analysis and Mitigation strategies
This project analyzes the movement of pollutants around the area and studies the vulnerability of the communities living along the Village Creek River and in the flood-risk zones along the river to pollutants and promotes the inclusion of Low Impact Developments (LIDs) and green infrastructures (GI) to mitigate this issue.Birmingham Air Pollution and Urban Heat Island Effect on the Low Income and Minorities.
This study addresses the upsurge in heat-related illnesses and respiratory ailments that disproportionately affect underserved communities in Birmingham, Alabama. The primary objective of this investigation is to develop an all-encompassing system for tracking outdoor comfort that considers the combined impact of heat and air pollution on community health.Urban water pollution extent and impact on the Village Creek in Birmingham, AL – Analysis and Mitigation strategies
This project aims to analyze the movement of pollutants around the area and study the vulnerability of the communities living along the Village Creek River and in the flood-risk zones along the river to pollutants and promote the inclusion of Low Impact Developments (LIDs) and green infrastructures (GI) to mitigate this issue.On-farm microalgal cultivation for dairy feed supplement
We will determine the feasibility of growing microalgae on farms for use as a dairy feed supplement. The energy and nutrients for the microalgae production would come from anaerobic digestion of farm waste. Just one percent of microalgae in the feed can reduce methane emissions from cows by 90%.Single-Stage Process for Biogas Purification
In “Phase I”, a cyclic adsorption-desorption process was proposed for biogas and landfill gas (LFG) upgrading. “Phase II” research pursues further improvements in the adsorption performance and long-term stability of the final aminosilica candidate.PCR-Free Environmental Waterborne Bacteria Detection Using Raman Spectroscopy and Deep Learning
This project seeks to develop a faster method using Raman spectroscopy and deep learning to detect bacteria in water, replacing slow Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) methods. It will be applied to test water from the Animas River and educate communities on water resource protection.Enhanced Detection and Removal of GenX from Water Supplies
The technical goal is to achieve enhanced detection and removal of GenX from water supplies. GenX is a short chain man-made organic molecule of per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), a proliferating family of the so-call forever chemicals that pollute environment and cause severe adverse health effects.Physicochemical Degradation of Microplastics
Synthetic textiles shed microfibers during washing and drying, contributing to potential microplastic pollution in the environment. These fibers can pass through the wastewater treatment plants and reach soil and water bodies, posing potential threats to human health. This study investigates microfiber degradation under visible light and base-catalyzed hydrolysis.EPA P3 Air Scrubber
3 Phase air scrubber to reduce ammonia levels for farming.Hawkquarium: Natural Approach in Antifouling Protection: Remedy for Safer Water for Fisherman, Boaters, and Cargo Ships.
Biofouling is an economically costly and environmentally concerning problem caused by the formation of biofilm on submerged surfaces, faced by cargo and military ships, fisheries, and recreational boats, water pipe systems, NASA projects, and even dentistry. We propose non-toxic protection based on extracts from natural plants and biocompatible polymers.Las Vegas, NV
Optimized biochar/hydrochar for disinfection byproduct removal in water
Development of a low cost adsorbent using agricultural waste biomass to clean drinking water by removing harmful disinfection byproducts that may be present, especially during emergency situations or times of temporary water treatment (e.g. refugee camp)Scaling Chiplet Integration Through Advances in Printed Interconnects
This research develops scalable printed redistribution layers to interconnect silicon chiplets. Using precision high-resolution techniques we demonstrate customizable 2μm lines/spaces, <1μm overlay accuracy, and reliable routing to enable heterogeneous integration. The innovations in cost-effective dense interconnects promise to revolutionize high-volume chiplet production for AI, computing, 5G, and more.Generative AI Requirements Development
A database and AI engine to assist government agencies and the defense industrial base in writing more effective requirements to reduce cost overruns and schedule delays.OPERA - Operational Process Efficiency and Resource Analytics
Our technology transforms 2D engineering drawings into 3D digital models with ease. It streamlines the creation of prototypes and production-ready parts, enhancing training and visualization for technicians via AR/VR, and makes complex processes more understandable and efficient.Albany, NY
IgA Monoclonal Antibodies as a Prophylactic and Therapeutic Treatment for Dengue Virus Infection
Upstate Medical University's technology tackles dengue virus challenges, countering Antibody Dependent Enhancement. It ensures immediate immunity using neutralizing antibodies and an IgA1 construct, providing crucial protection and addressing the absence of FDA-approved solutions for those without prior dengue infection in regions affected by expanding mosquito habitats.Balloon Assisted Thrombectomy Dual Aspiration and Distal Access Catheter System
Improves the treatment of acute ischemic stroke by reducing the risk of distal thromboembolism and intercranial emboli. Combines balloon guide catheter technology and direct aspiration catheters with an aspiration catheter balloon inflation mechanism for use in the retrieval of intracranial occlusions and as an emboli protection device.Optimized Ureteroscope Shape to Reduce Intrapelvic Pressure
During ureteroscopy, the irrigation fluid used to distend the kidney can cause a buildup of pressure in the pelvis, placing patients at risk for sepsis and pain. This method improving fluid flow around or through an endoscope using radially oriented projections is applied to any endoscope or catheter, including bronchoscopes.Balloon Assisted Thrombectomy Dual Aspiration and Distal Access Catheter System
Improves treatment of acute ischemic stroke by reducing risk of distal thromboembolism and intercranial emboli. Combines balloon guide catheter technology and direct aspiration catheters with an aspiration catheter balloon inflation mechanism for use in the retrieval of intracranial occlusions and as emboli protection in the treatment of intracranial steno-occlusive disease.Vertical axis wind turbine
