SYN-BAC - The first selenium nanoparticle-based antimicrobial dressing for treatment of MRSA infections in skin wounds
Selenium-based nanoparticle (SeNP) treatment for preventive and therapeutic use against bacteria. Our product, SYN-BAC, uses bacteria to produce corresponding therapeutic SeNPs with the aim of using them as antimicrobials towards the same bacteria that produce them. This approach is analogous to a Nanometric Trojan Horse to treating bacterial infections.

Sphingosine-1 Phosphate (S1P) is an enzyme in humans that has been shown to be upregulated by viruses to help them replicate and spread infection. Our work shows that inhibitors of S1P can protect from infection with Influenza A and other clinically relevant viral infections.
