Work to Zero

Funded by the McElhattan Foundation, the Work to Zero initiative at the National Safety Council is committed to making innovation accessible to eliminate fatality risk in the workplace through the use of technology. Our mission is to eliminate workplace fatalities by 2050.

We work to fulfill our mission using three key initiatives:

• Research: We research how emerging technologies can address the leading causes of serious incidents and fatalities, as well as best practices for successful adoption. Since our launch in 2019, we have produced dozens of white papers, reports, and case studies to advance our mission.

• Education: We provide educational resources to support the adoption of technology. These resources include interactive online tools, research reports, case studies, webinars, and in-person sessions.

• Partnerships: We foster key partnerships with stakeholders in the field to strengthen everyone's work. One example is our Work to Zero Advisory Council. This is a volunteer group of EHS and technology experts composed of industry, academic, government and other thought leaders who strategically advise the Council on efforts to eliminate workplace deaths.
