INNOVATE Hawaii houses the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) and Hawaii SBIR programs under the High Technology Development Corporation (HTDC), an agency of the state of Hawaii. HTDC and INNOVATE Hawaii share a common goal to support the development and growth of Hawaii’s commercial high tech industry. As part of a national network of 59 MEP centers across the nation, the MEP program assists small to medium sized businesses become more profitable by providing consulting services in product development, lean manufacturing, energy efficiency planning, export readiness, financial analysis, marketing and value stream mapping.
In Hawaii, over 90 companies have succeeded in competing for a total of approximately $37 million for over 200 SBIR grants and contracts. The State of Hawaii has contributed over $5 million in matching grants to assist companies in winning larger federal awards and to commercialize their innovations.
