The U.S. Department of Energy launched the Genesis Mission in 2025 to initiate a nationwide effort across all 17 national labs for AI-accelerated innovation and discovery. Spread across 21 challenge areas spanning a diverse array of technologies from biotech and quantum to nuclear energy, cybersecurity, and critical minerals, this initiative aims to accelerate AI development and utilization for US leadership in this high priority and impact area. This symposium will provide an overview of the vision of the Genesis initiative as well as some preliminary research results from the 2026 funding calls.
