Dr. Seokpum "Pum"
Kim is a Senior R&D Scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory,
specializing in digital manufacturing for composite materials. He manages six
research projects totaling $5.5M in funding, focusing on manufacturing
optimization, additive manufacturing, and structural design, while leading a
cross-functional team that includes postdoctoral researchers, PhD students, and
interns.
Dr. Kim’s work has been
recognized by the R&D 100 Award and three CAMX industry awards. He holds
ten granted patents and four proprietary software copyrights, and has published
75 papers with an h-index of 23 and over 2,000 citations. His technical work
includes algorithm development, finite element analysis, computational fluid
dynamics, and machine learning for manufacturing applications. He earned his
PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2016. His research addresses
both fundamental scientific questions and practical manufacturing challenges.
