Nick Woolstenhulme is an engineer, researcher, and technical leader with 20 years of experience in the field of irradiation testing for nuclear fuels and materials development. He currently works in the fuel development, performance, and qualification department at Idaho National Laboratory. He has led development of several irradiation tests for fission and fusion applications in the ATR, TREAT, and other material test reactors both domestic and abroad. He currently leads irradiation testing for DOE’s Advanced Fuels Campaign and is the technical program manager for a project to establish a large scale criticality testing facility at INL. He also leads development of new innovation potentials at INL including pioneering work to revolutionize heat transfer in nuclear reactors using additively-manufactured lattices.
