Matthew Hetrich is the Principal Scientist and Generative AI Lead at ABB’s Corporate Research Center in Raleigh, where he drives global engineering initiatives focused on Agentic AI and domain-adapted foundation models. Recognized as ABB’s 2024 US Inventor of the Year with over 40 patent filings, Matt specializes in translating cutting-edge research into scalable business solutions, having recently architected custom multi-agent reasoning engines that have delivered millions in annual savings. Matt’s perspective is grounded in a blend of corporate R&D and entrepreneurial experience. Prior to his current tenure, he served as a Computer Vision Product Manager at Lenovo and founded an AI startup focused on synthetic data generation. An NC State alumnus, Matt brings a rigorous, full-stack approach to evaluating the next generation of AI innovation.
