
Dr. Mim Rahimi is the Kaspar J. William Assistant Professor of Environmental Engineering at the University of Houston (UH), where he also holds an affiliate appointment with the Materials Science and Engineering Program. Before joining UH, he was a postdoctoral associate at MIT (2018–2021) with Prof. Alan Hatton. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University in 2017 under the supervision of Prof. Bruce Logan. Dr. Rahimi’s research group focuses on developing electrochemical processes for separation and carbon management applications.
His work has been recognized through the NSF CAREER Award (2024), DOE’s National EnergyTech University Prize, UH–Chevron Energy Transition Innovation Challenge, and selection for the AAEES 40 Under 40 Recognition Program (2025). Additional recognitions include the UH President’s Circle Award (2024), AAEES Excellence in Environmental Engineering and Science® Award (2025), and the UH Junior Faculty Research Excellence Award (2024). He serves on the Early Career Editorial Board of ES&T Engineering.
