
Matthew Tamasi, PhD, serves as Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Plexymer, a Rutgers University spin-out developing self-driving autonomous laboratories that combine robotics for wet- and dry-lab experimentation with AI-driven analysis and decision-making to accelerate scientific discovery. The company’s current focus includes applying AI-enabled automation to therapeutic protein formulation and materials science applications. Matthew earned his PhD in 2025 in Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers University after completing a BS in 2018. He is currently a New Jersey Innovation Research Fellow and a NSF SBIR awardee focusing on new opportunities in automated science.
