
Susan MacKay, Ph.D. is the Chief Sustainable Materials Officer at the University of Maine Advanced Structures and Composites Center (ASCC) where she serves on the Executive Management team and leads the Materials and Process Development functional groups. She is also the UMaine program manager for the SM2ART program- a research alliance between UMaine and Oak Ridge National Laboratory developing forest-derived, recyclable materials conducive to large-scale additive manufacturing, and collaborating with more than 40 industrial partners to bring innovative, functional composite products to market. In her role at the ASCC she helps develop new research initiatives and builds and maintains relationships with key external partners in the composites and biobased materials industries.
