Effective and Non-toxic Underwater and Marine Adhesive

TECHNOLOGY SUMMARY

Current adhesives perform poorly underwater or in wet conditions, and use toxic solvents or chemicals. We will use novel chemistry to create mussel-inspired protected catechol-containing adhesives that will provide increased adhesion in both wet and dry conditions, with initial application to the Navy's special hull treatment for submarines.
