Amay J. Bandodkar is an assistant professor in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at North Carolina State University with additional affiliation to the Center for Advanced Self-Powered Systems of Integrated Sensors and Technologies (ASSIST). He received his Integrated Master’s in Technology (M.TECH.) in Applied Chemistry from Indian Institute of Technology – Banaras Hindu University, India, in 2011 and Ph.D. in Nano-engineering from University of California San Diego, USA, in 2016. Thereafter, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the department of Materials Science and Engineering at Northwestern University (2016-2020).

He has authored more than 50 papers in journals including Nature Electronics, Nature Communications, and Science Advances, in the fields of soft electronics, wearable biochemical sensors, self-powered systems, energy harvesters, and unconventional hybrid manufacturing. He is also an author of 6 patents. In recognition of his multi-disciplinary research, academic excellence, and demonstrated leadership, he has received the 2022 Highly Cited Researchers recognition by Web of Science, 2022 IEEE Sensors Early Career Award, 2021 MIT Technology Review 35 Innovators under 35, 2021 Biosensors Young Investigator Award, 2021 America’s 50 most disruptive innovators (Newsweek Magazine), 2016 Metrohm Young Chemist Award, 2016 MRS Graduate Student Award, 2016 Siebel Scholars Award, 2015 Interdisciplinary Research Award, and 2011 Undergraduate Research Publication Award.
