Summary:
In this talk, I will present a simple approach for simulating high frequency wave propagation, where the governing equation will be transferred into a fixed point problem associated with an appropriate exponential operator. The fixed point iteration follows to find the approximation of the solution, with pseudospectral approximations and high-order operator splitting techniques. The method is efficient with O(N log N) complexity, and the sampling density in terms of points per wavelength can be much smaller compared to the conventional finite difference, finite element or finite volume methods. Numerical experiments will be presented for demonstration.
