With more than 40,000 team members in 17 countries and annual revenues that exceed $20 billion, Micron Technology, Inc. is a global leader in the semiconductor manufacturing that drives the world’s micro- and nano-enabled devices. Micron’s long-term sustainability goals are focused on four primary areas, emissions, energy, water, and waste, and the company has committed $1 billion to meet these goals over the next 5-7 years. Specific goals include reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 75% by 2030, transitioning to 100% renewable energy in the US by 2025, 75% water conservation by 2030, and 95% waste recovery/re-use with zero hazardous waste to landfills by 2030. Beyond its environmental sustainability objectives, Micron is also focused on improving its sourcing practices, community involvement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. The speaker will discuss the importance of the international community for Micron in the context of sustainability challenges and opportunities.
