Dr. Yanjun Qi is an associate professor at University of Virginia, Department of Computer Science from summer 2013. Her research interests are in machine learning and in applications with biomedical impacts. She obtained her Ph.D. degree from School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University in 2008 and her Bachelor with high honors from Computer Science Department at Tsinghua University, Beijing. She was a researcher in the Machine Learning Department at NEC Labs American, Princeton, NJ from 2008 to 2013. She has served as PCs and reviewers for multiple international conferences/journals and has co-chaired the NeurIPS “Machine Learning for Computational Biology” workshops. Dr. Qi has received CAREER award from NSF and a Best Paper Award at NeurIPS workshop for Transparent and interpretable Machine Learning. In 2021, Dr. Qi servers as Data and Technology Advancement (DATA) National Service Scholar in NIH, NIA.
