Thomas Alan Kwan is a sustainability, innovation, and green engineering expert. At Unilever he works in Science & Technology developing sustainable technologies for personal care. He holds a PhD in Chemical and Environmental Engineering from Yale University where he invented processes to selectively recover nutraceuticals and oils from algae, as well as green chemistry routes for biofuels, using supercritical carbon dioxide. Thomas has led workshops and webinars for technical and non-technical audiences towards incorporating sustainability in business decisions, design thinking, and innovation. Previously, he served at the U.S. EPA Region 9 in the Office of the Regional Administrator and the Land, Chemicals, and Redevelopment Division.
