China has the world's fastest-growing major economy, with growth rates averaging 6% over 30 years. Recent news shows China's GDP Per Capita reached over 10,000 USD in Dec. 2019 and China’s population reached 1.4 billion. China has also reached its Medium and Long-Term Plan for the Development of Science and Technology (2006–2020) to devote 2.5% of GDP to research and development by 2020. It will not be surprising for the Chinese science community in the area of cellulose nanomateri-als to get more research funding and have significant progress toward cellulose na-nomaterial manufacture and application. In this presentation, I will give an overview: 1). Who funds the research toward cellulose nanomaterial development in China; 2) Who conducts the research in China; 3) Major outcome from Chinese scientists; 4) Current status of commercialization; 5) My own experiences and outcome working with Chinese scientists in recent years.
