A key element for success in advanced manufacturing is an effective and sustainable health and safety program that can evolve to meet the new and ongoing challenges provided by advanced materials, processes, and facilities, as well as the changing roles and responsibilities of the workforce. While the importance of workplace safety is widely acknowledged, the extent to which it is has been successfully incorporated into business practices is widely debated.
The goals of this session are three-fold:
This event will incorporate perspectives from business managers, technology leaders, manufacturing operations experts, and occupational health and safety practitioners through focused 5 minute talks, small group discussions (Science Café approach) that address critical questions, an interactive panel discussion that incorporates the small groups' discussions and considers advanced manufacturing workplace safety as a profit maker or profit taker, and a poster session with reception.
