Krassimir Velikov

Program Director at NanoNextNL

Science Leader at Unilever, Netherlands

Krassimir P. Velikov is a Science Leader & Team Leader at the Unilever R&D division in Vlaardingen, the Netherlands. He received his Ph.D. in Physics under the supervision of Prof. A. van Blaaderen. The project, focused on the syntheses and assembly of colloidal nanoparticles into colloidal crystals with different unit cells and stoichiometries for photonic application, was conducted both in the FOM Institute for Atomic and Molecular Physics (AMOLF) and in the Soft Condensed Matter group at University of Utrecht. Joining Unilever R&D Vlaardingen in 2002, he focused on design and application of colloidal nanoparticles for control of product functionality (structure, stability, appearance, etc) and delivery of bioactive molecules. His broad research interests include synthesis and characterization of colloidal nanoparticles, colloidal assembly, and physical-chemistry of soft condensed matter systems.
