The Graphene Council

In September 2013, Mr. Barkan founded The Graphene Council, an open platform for scientists, academics, students, producers, end-users, commercial professionals and regulatory officials that have an interest in the research, development and application of graphene. As of October 2017, The Graphene Council has attracted more than 8,500 members from around the world making it the largest community for people with an interest in graphene. The Graphene Council reaches more than 40,000 materials scientists in total through newsletters and online community platforms.

For more than 25 years, Terrance Barkan CAE has been building trade and professional associations on a global basis. His international management career has taken him to more than 60 countries on 6 continents around the world developing and implementing association growth strategy projects. As a Certified Association Executive (CAE), Mr. Barkan has been a prolific author of articles, guidelines and white papers on international association growth strategies. He has served as the Chair of the International Section Council for the American Society for Association Executives’ (ASAE), is a former member of the Board of the European Society of Association Executives and has been an adviser to the Chinese Federation of Industrial Economics (CFIC). The Graphene Council is focused on meeting the needs of the global graphene community, helping facilitate the development, application and commercialization of this unique material.
