Peter Scheuer is a Senior Manager of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) at Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T), which manages and operates the department of Energy’s Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC). Scheuer is leading a significant effort to establish an Advanced Manufacturing Center for the campus focused on the identification of equipment, facility, and process safety requirements associated with Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies. The approach being employed is to leverage: 3rd party Subject Matter experts to define requirements; architecture and engineering firms to provide designs; industry benchmarking to identify best practices; and codes & standards agencies to develop risk-based operational parameters. In his position, Scheuer leads all aspects of the HSE program from tactical execution to ensure performance and compliance along with strategic initiatives to increase organizational efficiency and effectiveness. Prior to moving into the HSE function, Scheuer held several positons in Engineering including Product Engineer, Project Manager, and Technical Manager. As a project manager for a new facility site transition he had responsibility for factory production space, combustible dust and dust collector systems, and establishment of a chemical management system. Prior to joining FM&T in 2003, Scheuer held Product and Process Engineering positions at Corning Fiber Optics and Boeing Phantom Works. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Materials Science from the Michigan State University and an Executive MBA from Rockhurst University.
