Steve Jons has been active in water purification research at Dow for more than two decades, most commonly in areas of ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, or reverse osmosis. His current role is focused on identifying research opportunities and advising research platforms associated with development of membranes, elements, and separation applications. Over his career, he has been involved in introducing several commercial membranes and was the principal chemist responsible for formulating Dow’s NF-270 membrane and the current SR90 membrane. He has been a focal point for developing the capabilities of simulation tools, such as Dow’s market-leading ROSA modeling program for RO/NF system simulation. Other areas of interest include new approaches for fabrication of elements and improved testing methods. Steve is an inventor on 26 granted US patents and more than 20 other patent applications being prosecuted. He was Intellectual Asset Management Leader for Dow Water & Process Solutions from 2009-2015. Steve has a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of Minnesota.
