Summary:The past several decades have witnessed the usefulness of optical fiber Fabry-Perot (F-P) interferometry for both scientific research and industrial applications. Various F-P designs have shown to be especially attractive for sensing in harsh environments. This talk will provide an overview of the typical methods for the construction of F-P sensors as well as sensor signal processing. The recent discovery of an additional optical phase will be presented and its significance to the sensor demodulation will be discussed. Several recent successes in F-P technology commercialization will be given.
