Mindi Farber-DeAnda

Senior Program Manager

Mindi Farber-DeAnda is a Senior Program Manager at SAIC with 30 years of energy analysis experience, including a dozen focused on grid-scale stationary energy storage. She has managed many analytical projects, a number of them involving lessons learned from energy storage systems, such as lead acid batteries at the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority, valve-regulated lead acid batteries at Metlakatla Power & Light, and vanadium redox flow batteries at PacifiCorp. She managed the multi-client simulator project to develop, validate, and demonstrate an embedded controller that can emulate up to five distinct distributed energy technologies at a time. Eight technology modules were developed including flooded lead-acid batteries; valve regulated lead-acid batteries, zinc bromine batteries, and power quality batteries. Ms. Farber-DeAnda supports the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability, working on energy emergencies, performing quick turn-around responses, developing and maintaining public and secure web sites for discrete communities involved in emergencies. She is also managing Data Collection, Analysis, Reporting, and Outreach for the demonstration of zinc bromine flow batteries at National Grid and Sacramento Municipal Utility District, co-funded under a three-year Smart Grid ARRA grant. Ms. Farber-DeAnda holds a Bachelors degree from Vassar College and is currently studying towards her Masters in Systems Engineering expected in 2012.
