Exploiting Droplet Shape to Enhance Colloidal Material Adhesion and Delivery

The last decade has seen amazing innovations in the design, synthesis, and fabrication of monodisperse colloids with complex shapes in relatively significant quantities. However, many of the breakthroughs in colloidal shape design are limited to certain materials that could limit their applications. In P&G liquid consumer products almost every benefit is delivered via dispersed droplets, limiting our use of many breakthrough colloidal materials made from solids. In this talk I will discuss our recent work on developing hybrid droplet materials that enable us to control shape, surface, and other properties. The impact of these new materials on relevant performance measures, like adhesion, will also be discussed.
