James Maynard is a Boston-based Regional Manager for SVB Financial Group (SIVB – Nasdaq)). Jim is responsible for the 40 Boston and New York based professionals focused on all lending and banking activities for SVB’s 2500 + commercial clients in the Northeast United States. He also leads the effort on SVB’s relationships with a number of venture capital and private equity partnerships. He chairs the SVB east coast VC advisory board for SVB. He has served on the SVBFG credit committee, serves on the SVBFG investment committee and Joint Leadership Committee.

At SVB since 1993, Jim has been a senior commercial lender for emerging technology companies throughout his career. He has been a guest lecturer at MIT Sloane School, Harvard Business School (the Xedia Corp. case study with Greylock Management) and Babson College (Blank Center for Entrepreneurial Studies) on the subject of equity and debt financing for emerging growth companies. Jim is on the board of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital (Needham, MA) and The Slater Technology Fund (Providence, RI). He has served on the advisory board of the New England Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors. Prior to joining SVB, he was a commercial real estate lender at Fleet Bank in Providence and Boston for 4 years. Jim is a 1988 graduate of Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.
