Selenbact is range of veterinary products containing selenium nanoparticles with antibacterial properties, in special nanocomposite with polymeric substance, creating gel-like film preventing attachment and growth of microorganisms responsible for infections. Unique nanocomposite was developed with emphasis on maximum efficiency and for easier and effective application in the veterinary field.

FIGURES OF MERIT
Value Proposition: Target market related to the treatment of bacterial infections is still covered only by products based on antibiotic drugs, which rapidly lose their power. Trend in Europe shows very small decrease (3%) in actual usage of antibiotics for animals in the last ten years (FAO 2015). Antimicrobial resistance affects both humans and animals and the resistance can also spread from animals to humans through the food chain or direct contact. In the EU, 25,000 people die each year from an infection due to antibiotic-resistant bacteria (EMA 2015). Antimicrobial resistance also places a tremendous burden on healthcare systems and society, with an annual cost due to healthcare expenditures and productivity losses estimated at approximately €1.5 billion in the EU (EMA 2015).
The SELENMAST non-antibiotic product has the potential to be used not only for the elimination of a disease outbreak, but also as a „preventive” drug for bacterial infections. Resulting product should lead to a significant and positive influence on the European economics of the dairy industry through the overall estimated savings of 1 billion € annually. This represents a high business opportunity for our SME, as we expect annual revenues amounted to 13.7 mil. € (assuming 10% European market share)
