Dr. Tinamarie Kaarsberg is the Manager of Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) within DOE¹s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE).  She also serves as Senior Advisor to the of Technology-to-Market program.  In these roles she leads teams inside DOE to bring the unique strengths of small business to the federal clean energy innovation ecosystem.  She works to ensure that small businesses access to federal resources is in proportion to their vast contribution to the American economy and recognizes inclusive innovation is needed to achieve full scientific, innovation, social and entrepreneurial potential of this country.  Prior to EERE, Tinamarie served in DOE’s Policy Office and as a Senior Professional Staff Member on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Science Energy Subcommittee where she staffed major energy policy legislation. Previously, she served as served as Senior Policy Advisor at the Northeast Midwest Institute, worked as a senior scientist for a high tech small business and for Sandia National Laboratories where she was a thought leader on innovative clean energy Technologies.  Dr. Kaarsberg came to the Nation’s Capitol as an American Physical Society Congressional Science Fellow and served in the Office of Senate Pete V. Domenici.  Prior to this, she conducted basic physics research at Cornell University and Brookhaven National Laboratory and was on the faculty at UCLA.  Tinamarie has a Ph.D. in Physics from Stony Brook University and was graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Physics. She also is a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
