Rachel Melnick

National Program Leader for Agroclimatology

Rachel Melnick is the National Program Leader for Agroclimatology at USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA).  She has a background working in plant disease management and improving crop production under drought.  She leads competitive research and extension programs at USDA NIFA in the AFRI Climate Change Challenge Area, Innovations at the Nexus of Food, Energy and Water Systems (INFEWs) with NSF, and SBIR Plant Production and Protection – Engineering.  Rachel is the USDA representative to the Harmful Algal Bloom and Hypoxia Research and Control Act interagency working group, the Interagency Arctic Research Policy Committee, and US Global Change Task Force Observations Working Groups.
