Taraka Dale received her B.S. in Biochemistry (Magna Cum Laude, Honors) from Allegheny College in 1999 and her Ph.D in Biochemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2005, where her work centered on RNA structure and function. After postdoctoral appointments at the University of Utah and LANL, Dr. Dale became a staff scientist at LANL in 2011. She has been applying high throughput screening and selection methods to advanced algal feedstocks research since 2009. Her current research focuses on generating algae and other organisms with properties suitable for the cost-effective production of biofuels and bioproducts and improving the performance of those organisms under outdoor-relevant conditions. Dr. Dale has published and given numerous presentations in the algae biofuels field and is a reviewer for Algal Research.
