In this talk, I will review the key challenges and opportunities in Integrated Computational Materials Engineering and Infomatics to equip the materials community with new tools and techniques for design innovation; make digital data accessible; and create a world-class materials workforce that is trained for careers in academia or industry. Each of these areas for are developing in industry and academia to advance materials design for transformational capabilities in aerospace and defense, consumer products, medicine, environmental protection, infrastructure, and industrial manufacturing. Significant opportunities exist for the merging and leveraging of disparate scientific advancements in materials discovery, high performance computing, multi-disciplinary engineering and design, data science, artificial intelligence, and human-machine teaming, for the rapid and transformational advancement of materials and manufacturing science and technology.
