Joe Helfrich is an entrepreneurial executive and strategic thinker with the ability to understand complex customer requirements, identify and analyze alternatives, and develop creative solutions that leverage all relevant assets such as technologies, people, processes, and teaming partners. He has an expert understanding of Federal business development and hands on experience teaming with Industry (large, small, international, products and services), academic, non-profit, venture capital, and Government organizations. Currently, Joe is the co-founder and Vice President of Business Development for BluePath Labs LLC. BluePath Labs is a veteran owned, small disadvantaged business focused on the identification and application of disruptive technologies for the Federal Government and defense industrial base. Previously, Joe led business development for a number of entrepreneurial ventures including Kadix Systems, a Government small business contractor which grew 10x and was acquired for $47M, Exent Technologies Inc., a venture funded Israeli software start-up that went from pre-revenue to the dominant Games-On-Demand solution in the US, and most recently the Virginia Tech Applied Research Corporation, a University affiliated start-up helping the US Government adjust to globalization in the research and development technology ecosystem. Joe started his career at AT&T Government Solutions and has also worked for the technology transfer office at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Joe holds an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin and dual degrees in Computer Information Systems and Finance from the University of Maryland at College Park. He resides in Washington DC with his wife and two young children.
