Wireless, One-Way, Sensor to Base Station Monitoring System for Explosive and Non-hazardous Environments

NASA - Stennis Space Center, MS, United States

TECHNOLOGY SUMMARY

A base station and at least one sensor unit mounted at some distance away, in wireless, one-way communication with the base station. Lies dormant until it receives a voltage trigger from a vibration sensitive switch which consumes no stored power from the battery. Takes measurement, transmits data, returns to dormancy.

Primary Application Area: Electronics, Sensors & Communications

Technology Development Status: Prototype

Technology Readiness Level: TRL 8

FIGURES OF MERIT

Value Proposition: Commercialize this technology through partner licensing to provide benefits to the marketplace. A wireless monitoring solution can cost a fraction of a wired monitoring system. Technology performs well in extreme temperature ranges, sensors potted in a fire retardant substance, laminate produces a voltage that wakes the microprocessor.
