Graphene 3D macroassemblies: “Bulk” Graphene

TECHNOLOGY SUMMARY

Graphene materials produced in a “bulk” fashion are made possible by synthesis and manufacturing methods developed at LLNL. These methods produce high density graphene monoliths—a 3D structure of graphene sheets crosslinked by covalent carbon bonds. The 3D macroassemblies have high conductivities and mechanical strength.

Value Proposition: LLNL’s 3D macoassemblies of graphene have unique competitive advantages compared to existing product forms.
The assemblies and their composites rival performance of currently available graphene materials making it ideal for composites and energy applications, as well as realizing new applications of graphene materials.
