SansEC – Wireless 1,2 and 3-Dimensional sensor technology patented by NASA

NASA Langley Research Center, Office of Strategic Analysis, Communications, & Business Development, VA, United States

TECHNOLOGY SUMMARY

SansEC is a sensor that may be configured in various geometric structures – similar to a spiral. The spiral is an open circuit with no electrical connections. Monitoring of the sensor is through a remote near-field magnetic probe antenna. Materials that disturbs the field can be sensed, measured, and quantified.

Primary Application Area: Electronics, Sensors & Communications

Technology Development Status: Commercial Product

Technology Readiness Level: TRL 9

FIGURES OF MERIT

Value Proposition: The patented SansEC platform has unique attributes for a host of physical sensing applications. The sensor is low cost, configurable, and wireless and requires only a simple transponder. It is most valuable where electrical or physical contact with the sensor and the material measured is undesirable or impossible.
