Deep Brain Stimulation system for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. The system is optimized for therapeutic efficacy, reduced side effects, and patient comfort. Optimization focuses the electrical stimulation to only the targeted brain area, substantially reducing the power demands, and allowing for miniaturization of system components.

Value Proposition: UCF’s improved DBS system provides significant therapeutic advantages over current DBS devices, while reducing maintenance costs. The targeted therapy has reduced side effects and power demands. The system can be miniaturized for patient comfort and eliminates the need for a large battery power supply in the chest area.
