TECHNOLOGY SUMMARY

The modular carbon/air power cell uses replaceable anodes of elemental carbon; a molten electrolyte (725 °C); cathodes and separators adapted from MCFC technology; and novel ceramics, to deliver 5.1 VDC at >100 W continuously for 4 months to power domestic electronics, lighting and appliances for off-grid consumers.

FIGURES OF MERIT

Value Proposition: We offer continuous off-grid power for telecommunications, entertainment, refrigeration, hand tools, LED lighting, and sensors using patented carbon conversion technology. Simple, refuelable, modular sub-kW units are estimated to cost $0.50/W ($0.12/kWh) and provide carbon-neutral power from biomass to compete in value with solar/wind, gasoline generators, and primary batteries.
