An improved solution blending process for the fabrication of nylon6-montmorillonite nanocomposites

The invention is a novel solution blending process for the preparation of nanocomposites of nylon6 and montmorillonite clays. Solution blending commonly results in polymer degradation during solvent evaporation and thus is not practical for industrial use. The invention overcomes this problem and enables the production of nylon6-montmorillonite with improved properties.

Value Proposition: Our new method allows the production of a better quality nylon6 MMT nanocomposite, with better exfoliation and dispersion. It can also apply to different materials and nanoclays to produce similar results. The inventions lends itself easily to the production of either bulk parts or thin films.
