Flat sheet Membranes for Osmotic Power Generation via Pressure Retarded Osmotic (PRO) Process

The technology relates to flat sheet polymeric membranes for osmotic power generation via PRO. The membranes can withstand a hydraulic pressure of up to 15 bar and produce 10 W/m2 of energy when 1M NaCl (~seawater brine) and 10mM NaCl (~river water) is used as draw and feed solution respectively.

FIGURES OF MERIT
Value Proposition: Membrane is at least 2 times better (in the lab) than PRO membranes that Statkraft is looking for. Higher pressure tolerance of membrane means there is better energy conservation when high pressure draw solution (eg RO brine) is used.
