This special symposium is focused on the goals of the National Nanotechnology Initiative on Nanotechnology for Sensors and Sensors for Nanotechnology: Improving and Protecting Health, Safety, and the Environment NSI. These are to support research on nanomaterial properties and development of supporting technologies that enable next-generation sensing of biological, chemical, and nanoscale materials.

This initiative includes activities from the following collaborating agencies: Consumer Product Safety Commission, Department of Defense, Environmental Protection Agency, Food and Drug Administration, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, National Institutes of Health, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, National Institute of Standards and Technology, National Science Foundation, and the Department of Agriculture.

You are invited to submit your abstract for presentation in the following topic areas:

  • Federal programs and resources for nanosensor and sensors-for-nano development
  • Moving nanosensors from lab to market
  • Nanoscale phenomenon and Nanomaterials for sensor applications
  • Portable, implantable, and wearable nanosensor design
  • Massive data management and on-board intelligence for nanosensors
  • Quality control and validation of nanosensors and sensor materials
  • Target enrichment and sample processing for nanosensors
  • Sensors for detecting nanomaterials
  • Environmental signatures and indicators of nanomaterial presence
  • Tagging nanomaterials to enable detection
