TechConnect Innovation Program

AC3B technology

AC3B Technologies Ltd., Quebec, Canada

TECHNOLOGY SUMMARY

The technology aims at producing fuels (gasoline and diesel additive), chemicals and petrochemicals (BTX aromatics, light olefins i.e. ethylene, propylene and butenes, and LPG-grade paraffins)from ligno-cellulosic biomass, particularly forest/agricultural residues, perennial grasses, cellulosic wastes. Basically,it consists of two catalytic steps. This is a green, sustainable, performing and quite simple technology.

Primary Application Area: Automotive & Transportation

Technology Development Status: Prototype

Technology Readiness Level: TRL 4

FIGURES OF MERIT

Value Proposition: New technology that does not have constraints as in the conventional ligno-cellulosic biomass hydrolysis/production of sugars/fermentation to alcohols (ethanol or butanols), or the technologically heavy Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (for producing hydrocarbons or alcohols.
