PneumatiCoat Technologies' (PCT) patent pending semi-continuous coating process provides a gateway towards the industrialization of groundbreaking Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) coating solutions. ALD coatings provide beneficial performance results in many fields (Li-ion batteries, capacitors, etc) where our process can easily be integrated into existing manufacturing processes, at low cost, scalably.

Value Proposition: Using our high throughput coating system we can dramatically decrease the cost of ALD for powders and objects. For Li-ion batteries, our coatings provide nearly 100% of original charging capacity over the lifetime of the battery, up to 30% material savings per battery, enhanced operating specifications, and improve safety.

GOVT/EXTERNAL FUNDING SOURCES
Government Funding/Support to Date: PneumatiCoat currently has two Phase I DOE SBIR grants. The first grant, titled “Low-Cost Ceramic Nano-Encapsulation Technologies for Highly-tunable High Temperature Capacitors” awarded through the DOE Topic 1 (High Voltage and High Temperature Capacitors for Energy Storage), Subtopic a (High Temperature Capacitors), was awarded in June of 2013 with a budget of $150k over 9 months. This grant focused on using ALD to enable oxidation resistant precious metal replacements, to improve dielectric performance at high temperatures, and to hermetically coat finished capacitors. This project has product excellent results and we are currently engaging with many large capacitor companies. We are very optimistic about our Phase II chances.
