Jakob directs all technical efforts at Biosynthetic Technologies. His responsibilities include the development and commercialization of new innovative technologies. He manages several research labs around the world currently developing synthetic bio-based lubricants, and oversees the engineering and construction of a full-scale, bio-based lubricant production facility. He also works closely with many of the major oil and chemical companies to help them formulate and commercialize consumer products based on sustainable technologies.

Jakob began his career at Jacobs Engineering where he worked as a process engineer and specialized in improving process efficiency and reducing energy consumption. He worked with such companies as ConocoPhillips, BP, Tesoro, Valero, and Chevron. He later worked as an environmental consultant and specialized in clean technology and regulatory compliance.

Jakob is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the field of Chemical Engineering. He holds a Chemical Engineering degree from the University of California, Irvine. He is named on over 30 issued or filed patents in the field of sustainable materials. He has been invited to speak at conferences around the world on topics related to his experience and work.
