Willard C. (Bill) Capdevielle

Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Earned BS in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1971, and MS in Systems Management from University of Southern California in 1975.
Bill is a former United States Air Force pilot and aircraft commander.
Bill worked for Mobil Oil and Superior Oil from 1975 until he retired in 2000. Bill’s experience there includes planning and executing high-rate gravel-packed gas well completions in the Gulf of Mexico; exploration well test and analysis in the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, and offshore California; corporate planning and economics; reservoir engineering; Operations Engineering Manager and Offshore Installation Manager in the UK sector of the North Sea; Feasibility Engineer - analyzing and reviewing production and exploration opportunities for Mobil worldwide; Senior Technologist for Drilling & Completions at Mobil’s Upstream Technology Center; and Manager of Mobil’s Upstream Capital Project Cost & Schedule group.
After retirement, Bill worked as a consultant to ExxonMobil for eight years in Houston on operations support and project operability. Bill also contracted to Chevron for a short period of time on a project offshore, Angola. Bill began working for Hess in 2008 as a Senior Facilities Engineering Advisor in their Exploration & Production (E&P) technology group. Bill has been supporting Hess’ efforts in integrity management, production excellence, project excellence, and project operability. Bill discovered Nanotechnology about 3 years ago, and is charged with finding Nanotechnology opportunities for Hess in all areas of E&P.
Bill is a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas and Louisiana. He is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineering, the Texas Professional Engineering Society, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). Bill serves on the SPE Forum Series Implementation Committee - Western Hemisphere, and the SPE Production & Operations Technical Committee.
