Mr. Cundiff is the Deputy Director for Comparative Technology in the Research & Engineering organization, Office of the Secretary of Defense for Acquisition Technology and Logistics.

Dan oversees the Department’s Foreign Comparative Testing Program - - working with the Defense components to accelerate research and development of mature, foreign and domestic technology into U.S. weapon systems. Since 2011, Dan has overseen the Department’s execution of the Rapid Innovation Funding program, an initiative that accelerates innovative technologies developed by small businesses into defense and market applications. His prior assignments included the DoD’s Manufacturing Technology Program and Combating Terrorism.

Mr. Cundiff’s career represents over thirty years of investment by the Department in acquisition - - including positions in science and technology, production, manufacturing, and logistics.

Prior to his civil service career, Mr. Cundiff spent five years in the textile industry in southern Virginia.

Dan holds an undergraduate degree in Management from Virginia Tech, a Masters in Business & Contracts from the Florida Institute of Technology, and is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute.

His passions include family, trekking across Civil War battlefields, and life-long learning. Dan and his wife Susan reside in Springfield, VA.
