Bjørn Petter Jelle is a senior research scientist at SINTEF Building and Infrastructure, Department of Materials and Structures and a professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Department of Civil and Transport Engineering, within building physics, materials science and technology, solar radiation, thermal radiation, climate exposure, accelerated climate ageing, solar cells, building integrated photovoltaics, thermal transmittance, high performance thermal building insulation materials, nano materials and technology, various experimental techniques, energy aspects and related areas. Jelle holds a MSc degree in Physics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, NTNU (former the Norwegian Institute of Technology, NTH) in 1989, and a PhD from NTNU on the subject "Electrochemical and Spectroscopic Studies of Electrochromic Materials" in 1993. Jelle has carried out Practical Pedagogical Education on the subjects Pedagogical theory, Physics didactics, Mathematics didactics and Chemistry didactics at NTNU (former the College of Art and Sciences, AVH) (1995) and he has for many years been teaching at university, in secondary and primary school. Jelle has been employed as a senior material and corrosion engineer at Reinertsen Engineering, where work tasks included material and coating evaluation, surface preparation and protection, coating application, cathodic protection design, corrosion and material aspects, fuel cell technology design and research development. Jelle has been employed as a research scientist at NTNU, including a post doctorate, covering various areas such as material and corrosion technology, conducting polymers, sensor technology, electrochromic materials for energy-efficient windows, air metal hydride batteries, fuel cell technology, solar cells and hydrogen energy. Jelle is the author of several reports, internationally refereed articles, lectures and popular science articles. Important research fields at the moment includes work within the SINTEF and NTNU research projects "Concrete Innovation Centre" (COIN), "Improved Window Technologies for Energy Efficient Buildings" (EffWin) and the "Research Centre on Zero Emission Buildings" (ZEB).
