Dr Wendel Wohlleben currently heads a laboratory at BASF Advanced Materials Research, Ludwigshafen, Germany, to develop nanostructured material based on colloidal systems, and recently spent a Sabbatical at the Weizmann Institute (Israel). He previously acted as innovation manager for the BASF ‘growth cluster nanotechnology’ with responsibilities for roadmapping of open innovation in the European Technology Platform for Sustainable Chemistry. He investigates physical‐chemical aspects of the safety of nanomaterials since 2006, in a double affiliation with Material Physics and Experimental Toxicology
