Low-cost scalable production and applications of single-walled carbon nanotubes

Summary:

A scalable technology for the synthesis of single-walled carbon nanotubes, dramatically reducing the cost of production, has been created. The technology provides a material with «as-produced» concentration of single/double-walled CNT in the range of 60 - 90 %. In order to study and demonstrate their practical use, the produced nanotubes were introduced into a variety of materials – such as SMC - composites, reinforced plastics, rubber (tires), aluminum, thermoplastics, and electrochemical power sources – with the aim of improving their consumer properties, with the results of the experiments being presented. The superiority of SWCNT in comparison with MWCNT was also experimentally demonstrated.
