Palladium (Pd) has been widely used for H2 sensing applications because it readily forms a solid solution with hydrogen, modifying electrical resistance. Because the resistance change is diffusion-limited, Pd nanostructured materials with large surface area to volume ratios are of particular interest for rapid sensing response and recovery. In this work, a nanoscale M13 viral template was utilized to fabricate Pd nanowire chemiresistive sensors for room-temperature H2 detection.
